WooCommerce is a plugin that helps manage online stores using a WordPress website. WooCommerce 2.0.2 has officially been released to the public market. It has been considered as a major release as it has brought more features to better handle online sales.

WordPress is an open source web software, also known as a Content Management System (CMS) for managing of websites and blogs. WordPress is free software and is open to download for the public. Business sites increasingly using dynamic online content: Akamai

Akamai Australasia senior manager, Ian Teague, has discussed the growing trend of businesses adding dynamic content to their websites.

Dynamic content such as video reviews & staff introductions are becoming a popular way to engage with web users.

“Everyone is doing business online and have an online precedence, but it has to go further than just basic content” he said.

“People want a rich, engaging experience, so they are putting media content on their website to make it more engaging.”

A report on ARNNet.com.au says that Senator Stephen Conroy, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy has indicated Australians will pay up to $3000 if they wish to connect to superfast broadband.

Online sales on the increase

Figures from the Commonwealth Bank show online sales in Australia represent 5.4 per cent of all retail sales. This is expected to rise, with figures in the UK showing 10 per cent on sales are online, and in the USA 7 per cent are online.

Facebook doing a ‘really bad job’, says Google CEO

Google CEO Larry Page answered a question about Google’s motivations for competing with Facebook in social networking by going on the attack, saying “They’re a company that’s strong in that space,” “But they’re also doing a really bad job on their products.”

He didn’t expand on which products he believed were performing badly.

It’s Windows, but not as we know it

Google’s privacy policy under fire

Reports indicate that the pooling of data by Google is a breach of privacy laws, according to EU data protection commissioners.

The changes mean that what was once separately collated data via its services such as YouTube & Google+, is now tied together.
